I re-watched the first season of Venture Bros with my boyfriend recently, and I was astounded to find that the first season aired back in 2004. I remember watching the series late in night in my teenage suburban basement years, but I still hadn’t put it together that I’ve been following this series for nearly a decade.
Anyway, I’m excited that the fifth season will be all up in my eyeballs soon.
Eventually I need to include something in my author bio like, “A. grew up in the suburbs, where she was raised by cartoons.”

Drive containing the first 9 completed episodes of Venture Brothers season five. given to me last night by Jackson Publick. I had a look and to quote Tim Roth in Pulp Fiction, “It’s beautiful.” June 2nd at midnight, people.

My alternate cover for Adventure Time with Fionna and Cake: Issue #3!!! SO EXCITING! If you’re sitting there being like, “hey, that looks familiar,” you’re right! It’s a parody of the famous Conan the Barbarian cover done by the almighty Frank Frazetta.
Thanx to AD Adam Staffaroni of Boom! Studios and, of course, Fionna/Cake creator Natasha Allegri. Go pick one up at your local comic shop around mid-January!

If you asked me six months ago, “Allie, do you think you would like an American pseudo-anime that airs on Nickelodeon?” I would have said, “Ha ha, no, everybody knows it’s all about Cartoon Network right now.”

And then I ended up getting extremely invested in a gorgeous (though imperfect) show that had some of the best action sequences, plotting, and character development of any serialized television show I’ve seen.

I’m finishing up Legend of Korra right now. I have further thoughts about both of these series. Maybe I’ll eventually collect those thoughts together and make a post about it.
